On 15 July 2019, the Ontario government announced plans to greet a new immigration pilot program, known Regional Immigration Pilot of Ontario. The program aims to bring and hold skilled workers in smaller communities inside the province. This regional pilot is expected to begin in the year 2020.
At the beginning of the year 2019, the Northern and Rural Immigration Pilot was introduced at the federal level with the aim of attracting immigrants to smaller communities over Canada, east of the Quebec province.
The Ontario province gets more immigrants than any other, with plenty of landing in larger cities such as Ottawa and Toronto. Related to the Northern and Rural Pilot, the forthcoming Regional Immigration Pilot of Ontario will focus on attracting skilled workers to fill labor gaps in its regional communities; focusing efforts on addressing the particular needs of Ontario businesses and communities.
Ontario is presently gathering feedback from specific communities over the Ontario province and is allowing applications from proposed communities who need to engage in the pilot.
At this point of time, the pilot is not ready for individual appellants, as it is in the process of community selection. We can assume the Regional Immigration Pilot of Ontario to enter into force in 2020.
