A few years ago, former president, Barack Obama, and Malcolm Turnbull signed an agreement that allowed border refugees of Australia to live a new life in the US if the latter can send a group of refugees to Australia. The refugee group that comes to Australia consists of people from violent prone areas including Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. The groups that leave from Australia are a mix of Iranians, Syrians, Rohingya Muslims, Iraqis, Somalians, and many more combined. Only recently, the fourth group of refugees and second from Nauru left Australia’s detention center consisting of 22 people. All of them were them except a Rohingya couple. They will be taken to the US, where they will be settled, provided employment to start a new life. This travel brings the number to 110 for 2018. According to the agreement signed between the two countries, 1,250 from Australia’s refugee camps will be sent to the US, if Australia agrees to welcome the equal number of refugees from the US. These refugees have issues like drug and alcohol problem and violence issues. However, Iranians, which form a large part of the Australian refugee camps, will have to stay back at the center since the US has imposed a travel ban on them. There are around 2,000 of them living in the refugee camps. Other countries on which the US has imposed a travel ban include Syria, Libya, Iraq, North Korea, Yemen, Venezuela, and many others.
